“Pay attention to my Sunnah and the way of the rightly-guided Khaleefahs after me, adhere to it and hold fast to it” – Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Feedback From Previous Retreats

“Given the experience of this past retreat , I will definitely be joining the next one inshalah. It was my first attempt at all of the disciplines and I surprisingly really took them all.”

Aadam

Cape Town 2020

“I thoroughly enjoyed the retreat. It was by far the most entertaining and educational weekend that I have spent away from home. I found that each of the disciplines taught me a different skill and had some unique benefit to it.”

Mogamat Zaahier

Cape Town 2020

“I really enjoyed both the retreats that I attended. I enjoyed the camaraderie amongst the brothers and had a lot of great fun together. The retreat really inspired me to take up these disciplines and wish that we could have the retreat more than just once a year.”

Sohail

Cape Town 2019, 2020

“The Sunnah Sports retreat was an ideal combination of a mind, body and spirit workout. The encouragement towards practicing the Sunnah and performance of Salaah with congregation made it most beneficial. May Allah (SWT) reward the organisers and take more work from them.”

Zubair

Cape Town 2020

“A great experience! The setting was beautiful and the course interesting. Being a person who doesn’t do many outdoor activities, I thoroughly enjoyed. It was actually my first experience in all of the disciplines. I also got to learn many aspects about Islam as well as about nature.”

Muhammed

Newcastle 2020

“The Sunnah Sports Cape Town Retreat 2020 was absolutely amazing from beginning to end. The organisers did an awesome job in putting this event together and structuring the daily program. Every minute was fun, empowering and beneficial. The venue and catering was top class and I was seriously impressed with the instructors who were all brilliant and professionals in their fields. I have attended national leadership camps & international training programs in the past, and this one was most definitely up there one of the best! Keep up the good work!”

Luqmaan

Cape Town 2020

“Alhamdulillah every retreat has been extremely beneficial for me. I have through the Grace of Allah, attended three retreats. Besides being an event that is geared towards the noble arts, I have also found the retreats to be spiritually uplifting. It was great to see that the course contained both the theory and practical aspects of these noble arts. One can never fully appreciate the efforts made by the organisers and instructors in setting up these retreats. My dua is that there are many more retreats in the future and I will definitely continue attending insha’Allah.”

Reviving the Sunnah

When compared with human beings who have inhabited this earth since the time of Adam (AS), we live totally abnormal lives. In this ever-increasing age of technology, most functions around us are automated, leading to minimal exercise on a daily basis. We generally overeat (and that too being processed food) while many of the sicknesses we acquire are related to our unhealthy lifestyles.
Coupled with this, we spend most of our time indoors and have lost our touch with the outdoors.
We at Sunnah Sports would like to rekindle the love for the outdoors and the Noble Sunnah by reviving those activities that were encouraged by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

ARCHERY
ARCHERY

Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said, “Hold on tight to archery as this is better for you”
[at-Targheeb wa at-Tarheeb]

HORSERIDING
HORSERIDING

It is reported that Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) had said: “There is goodness in the forelocks of horses till the Day of Resurrection.”
[Al-Bukhari]

SWIMMING
SWIMMING

Rasulullah (SAW) said: “Any action which is void of the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala is fallacious (lahw) except for four actions…”, amongst which was “learning how to swim”
